The Socio-Economic impact of rheumatoid arthritis in Liguria, Italy: a retrospective analysis

APHEC Report 4 – March 2022

(Realized thanks to the unconditioned contribution of Galapagos)

This study aims at identifying the most important socio-demographic risk-factors associated with the development of rheumatoid arthritis in Liguria and to deeply analyze the use of healthcare services (hospitalizations, access to the Emergency Room, specialist visits and drug consumption) by patients. With this regard, the absorption of resources in each area of intervention has been estimated both for the NHS and for the patient.
An econometric approach is developed to analyze how the absorption of resources is affected by a set of socio-economic and clinical variables
